Baby Plant Month
From March 1st to March 31st
Baby Plant Month was born from a very personal chapter in my life: the premature arrival of my son Laurent at just 30 weeks, in April 2020. We spent over two months in the neonatal unit by his side. His early birth brought many challenges, but thanks to medical research, he pulled through — and today, he’s thriving with no lasting complications.
This campaign is my way of giving back. Baby Plant Month brings together people across Québec to support premature babies and help them grow healthy and strong.
In 2025, $237,206.08 was donated to the cause.

It’s simple: buy your Baby Plants at any participating garden centre or IGA store. Your contribution will automatically be added to the total donation.

WHAT IS
NEONATOLOGY?
Neonatology is a specialized care unit designed for babies born prematurely or for newborns who experience complications at birth or in the days that follow.
According to Naître et grandir, premature births have increased significantly over the past 25 years and now represent 8% of all births in Québec — more than 6,000 infants each year. Hospital stays for these premature babies can last several weeks, and understandably, parents often face incredibly difficult moments during this period.
Year after year, the funds raised make it possible to enhance neonatal units and fuel research that brings new hope to families and tiny newborns who need it most.

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE CAMPAIGN
Garden centres across Québec have joined the cause and sell Baby Plants throughout the month of March. To participate, simply visit one of the participating garden centres and pick up the Baby Plants you’ll be caring for at home! Some IGA stores are also part of the initiative and offer Baby Plants specially selected for their customers.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
Half of the funds raised through the sale of Baby Plants across Québec are donated to national neonatology research. The other half is given to the neonatal unit or foundation in the region where the plants were sold. Each participating retailer can choose the organization that will receive the funds from their area.
By purchasing Baby Plants, you’re supporting research that helps premature babies everywhere, while also improving the care offered within your own community.
